Highways

Highways problems (potholes, broken or missing signs, damage to road surfaces, flooding, blocked gullies and drains, hedges or trees obstructing the highways etc) should be reported directly to Norfolk County Council Highways .

HOCKERING WOOD

 

The Hutton Family, Owners of the Wood, warmly invite you to walk in the Wood on the following basis:

1.Access between Tuesday 1 April and Sunday 31 August 2026 between the hours of 10am and 4pm only.  Extension of opening hours: Saturday 13 June and Sunday 21 June from 4.00am to 10.00pm, both to listen to the dawn chorus and to give different photography opportunities.  Also, from Christmas Eve 24 December 2026 to New Year's Day Friday 1 January 2027 from 10.00am to 3.00pm.  In addition, on Satuday 1 August 2026 from 10.30am to 12 noon, Woodlands Manager, Harry Wakefield will be onsite (just inside the entrance, with additional parking) to give an explanation about the management of the Wood and to answer any questions, along with Matthew Hutton.

2.Entrance only by the pedestrian gate at the North of the Wood off Stone Road. Cars should not be parked so as to prevent woodland and emergency traffic using the vehicular gate.

3.You stick to the rides and do not wander off into the Wood.

4.Climbing on the High Seats is strictly forbidden.

5.Dogs are not allowed into the Wood.

6.You read the website www.hockeringwood.com and abide by The Rules.

7.On the website you will find a plan indicating a shorter and a longer walk.
